2011 National Quality Award Winner
Essex of Salem II has been recognized as a 2011 recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality National Quality Award presented by the American Health Care Association.
The National Quality Award Program is based on the core values and criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program.
Located in the quaint, rural Quaker town of Salem, Essex of Salem II was founded on love. In 1958, a young lady, named Juanita Hutton, purchased a 13-bed community and turned her dream of providing loving care to the elderly and disabled into a reality. Through the years, her community grew and new buildings were constructed. Even through a transfer of ownership, the tradition of giving loving care at our 2011 National Quality Award winning community continues through our staff members.
Essex of Salem II is a short distance to a plaza filled with restaurants, a movie theater, clothing stores and more. Activities and events are created to appeal to our residents’ interests and hobbies. In the summertime, “people watching” is an activity enjoyed by all. Residents take in the fresh, summer air while sitting under trees in front of our buildings or on the covered porch. Other residents enjoy looking at the surrounding nature and listening to the birds in the peacefulness of the back courtyard.
Our Community Features
Essex of Salem II is a newly renovated, 86-bed community. We offer a warm, cozy small-town feeling and everyone is graciously welcomed any time of day, just as they would be at home. Our cheerful environment is important because we believe in the scripture that reads: “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.”
Our Community Services
Essex of Salem II specializes in rehabilitation and skilled nursing care. Our community has an excellent rehabilitation program consisting of physical, occupational and speech therapists that perform an outstanding job of returning residents to an optimal level of functioning in order to return to the community. The skilled nursing services we provide include intravenous therapy, respiratory therapy, advanced wound care, tracheotomy care, and peritoneal dialysis.
The Right Choice
Choosing the right nursing center can be a difficult decision for the potential resident and family. We understand the emotional process of placement and strive to help with the adjustment for both the resident and his or her family.
